Dunlin is an Australian design studio with a particular focus on lighting.
Founded in 2010 by architect Nicholas Barber, the studio has steadily become a point of reference for architects, interior designers and private clients in search of lighting, furniture, fabric and objects that resist excess in favour of permanence.
Dunlin's work spans a broad geography, from the remote edges of Bruny Island and Groote Eylandt to the coastal light of Noosa and Margaret River, and extend internationally across the United States and Europe.
In Australia, Dunlin is the exclusive home of Rose Uniacke Lighting, Furniture, Fabric and Home Decor, Davey Lighting, Original BTC, Beadlight, Disderot and J'Jute
Running parallel is Dunlin’s own collection, designed by Taylor and Nicholas Barber, an extension of a broader design philosophy shaped across continents. With Taylor American born, and both having lived and worked in New York, their sensibility draws from the clarity and confidence of American design alongside the restraint and material sensitivity of Australia, distilled into work that feels at once composed, enduring and quietly assured.
In 2025, a Lighting Collaboration with Handelsmann and Khaw signalled a further expansion of this dialogue between object, art and interior.
Opened in 2026, Dunlin Elizabeth Street is a Paddington terrace house showroom, set quietly along Elizabeth Street, conceived as an artfully arranged interior that is composed and deliberate.
Visits are by appointment.
