Introducing Alma, a collaboration between Original BTC and Swedish interior designer Beata Heuman, combining our best-of-British approach and ethos with Heuman’s inimitable eye for design and detail. Briefed to design a practical collection of go-anywhere ceramic fittings, the process began with a trip to Original BTC’s Stoke-on-Trent factory, where Beata took inspiration from bone china’s “almost ethereal quality”.
Each bone china light is manufactured according to traditional methods by our highly skilled team in Stoke-on-Trent. The process, which takes multiple days, begins with a slip (clay and water mix) being poured into moulds. Once set, the moulds are split and the shade, base or ceiling rose is removed and left overnight to dry before being sponged and fettled to remove any imperfections.
