Australian architect Nicholas Barber and Chicago-born designer Taylor McGuire have transported their sophisticated homewares aesthetic from New York where they first met, to a new store on Sydney’s Oxford St.
“Mostly everything at Dunlin is exclusive to us in Australia, including Original BTC, Davey Lighting, Beadlight, J’Jute and our own Dunlin designs in linen and homewares. We started selling online but a showroom has always been part of the plan. Our pieces deserve a hands-on emotional experience that we simply couldn't offer just online."
"Being in Paddington just made sense. In a way it really felt like the neighbourhood invited us to open here."
“The Dunlin aesthetic is about refinement and beauty. Designer Hiroki Nakamura has a great phrase, 'future vintage' and that is really what we try to do, design pieces that will be in style now and in the future.
Our most popular piece right now is our Safari Campaign Chair in American oak. It's a piece we designed specifically to be shipped around the world. Our first order was to LA and our last just today to Denmark. It's sustainable, hand made, 'future vintage' and we think, quite elegant.”
